From January 1 to December 21, 2025, Peel Regional Police recorded 4,722 vehicle thefts. Mississauga saw 2,838 incidents, while Brampton reported 1,867.

Vehicle thefts are lower this year compared to the same period in 2024. Between January 1 and December 7, 2024, 6,657 incidents were reported in Mississauga and Brampton.

Bryan Gast, national vice-president of investigative services at Équité Association, said greater public awareness and coordinated efforts by governments and law enforcement agencies drove a sharp drop in vehicle thefts during the first half of the year.
